The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) is working to help producers with farm management, particularly in the face of profitability challenges, and will be hosting two educational events in western Iowa January 2017 that incorporate riskmanagement strategies. In partnership with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, the first Feedlot Forum will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Sioux Center. The topics covered include the Veterinary Feed Directive, feedlot assessments, market volatility, market prices, and industry updates. The second Feedlot Forum will be held the next day, Wednesday, Jan. 18, in Carroll. This event will cover topics that are timely and important to the future success of Iowa’s feedlot producers, including market volatility, prices, changes to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manure rules, and the Iowa beef checkoff.
